Out of the Hospital!

AHHH I just wrote a long post and it got deleted!

ANYWAYS...Mom is no longer a resident of Suburban Hospital! She was transferred yesterday to Potomac Manor Care in Potomac Maryland. She will be there for a week or two while she regains strength and gets ready to take on the coming treatments. Dr. Priego, her oncologist here, started her on a drug called Aromacin, which is a hormone therapy drug designed to slow the growth of and shrink her cancer. It is a pill that is taken daily. When she gets out of the rehab, she will get a PET scan and then Dr. Priego will decide what, if any, other treatments will be necessary at this time. While at the rehab center, she'll get 2 1/2 hours of physical therapy each day, along with occupational therapy and breathing therapy. I visited her there last night and she seems comfortable and gets stronger every day. She still walks using a walker or has to be in a wheelchair and she tires easily. Her voice is becoming less hoarse. But as always, she's in good spirits. She's a little overwhelmed as she learns more about her week in the ICU and the various close calls she had. One of the respiratory therapists who saw her both in the ICU and in her regular room told her how scary the situation was and that it was obvious that there were many people pulling for her! So thank you!

Here is the info for her at Potomac Manor Care:
10714 Potomac Tennis Lane
Potomac, MD 20854
(301) 299-2273
Room 171

She will be at the rehab at least through Monday July 6th...possibly a few days longer.

Hi Sara, I have never met you. My name is Bill Benigni and my wife Barb and I live across the street from Bob and Marti. Although we do not know your parents very well, I have talked to Marti several times and played with the dogs! We are so happy that she continues to recover and that you and Bob can help out so much. Please give her our best wishes for continued improvement.

PS--things are well at your parents house. The bricklayers just left after spending eight hours replacing a lot of the bricks on the garage. They did a really nice job. I checked it out before and after!! Please tell your dad that I unplugged all their downspouts and sprayed off all the siding where the stains had poured down over. That should solve the wet wall problem in the basement. It was a little scary being up on the 30' extension ladder in the back of the house!!

Best regards, Bill and Barb Benigni
