GOOD NEWS ON REHAB-FROM BOB

I just came from seeing Maureen and today the physical therapist took away the walker and is having her walk with a cane! Not for huge distances, but I consider this a significant step forward, so to speak. Everyone call and congratulate her on getting rid of the walker!
She did well getting through her 2 hour PET scan yesterday---we will be seeing the Oncologist, Dr. Priego (who is really a nice guy) on monday to go over results and possibly have more tests if needed. She will be getting out of rehab either late this week or the first of next week, assuming there are no setbacks.
She is also improving on her hand coordination, which was really a bad problem 2 weeks ago. Her voice and concentration also continue to improve.
One big aggravation is the big, bad insurance company which is denying at least half of the rehab time and we may eventually have to get lawyers involved-this company is seriously nasty, denies things for inadequate reasons, uses a lot of passive aggression and puts layers of bureaucratic people hoping that people will give up and just pay themselves, but I'm sure many of you have had similar problems with insurance companies, who only care about making money and could care less about the patient.
Potomac Manor Care rehab has been great and the people there are very nice and we would highly recommend this facility, which also did a good job on Maureen's sister in the past. However, NOT all manor cares are this good, from what I have heard.
I wanted everyone to know that Maureen was doing so well and working so hard with her rehab.
Thanks again for all the support from our wonderful friends and relatives.

It's wonderful to see Marty improving every day, and actually coming out to dinner tonight at the Cheesecake Factory for Sara's belated birthday celebration! We have a lot to celebrate!
Love,
Debbie
