Maureen was doing very well until a few weeks ago. However, the cancer is now acting more aggressively and she has developed several new areas. She is going to have to go on chemotherapy and also will need to have radiation treatment to 2 or 3 areas, including the left shoulder and tailbone areas. I will start posting here regularly again.
We are requesting volunteers to come for a day or two when she has chemo as it is vital, both financially and for insurance reasons, that I continue to work full time.
Also PLEASE-when you call her, talk about the weather, politics, your kids, NOT about cancer---It is too hard on her to discuss her case with 50 different people. It is great for her to talk about all kinds of other stuff, to try to get her mind away from cancer for a few minutes.
We are going away for New Years for a few days. Our meetings with the medical oncologist, Dr Mehotra, and the radiation oncologist, Dr Pollack are wednesday and monday right after new years, and they will tell us the exact treatments at that time.
We will really need help and support from our family and friends--it is going to be a tough few months with the upcoming treatments.

Thank you for keeping us updated via your blog. Know that you're all in our thoughts and prayers always. I'm glad that you had a nice New Year's weekend and were able to relax and enjoy.
